Below are some excellent resources for general information on GA Magistrate Courts - also known as "Small Claims Court" - and the civil litigation process.

Please read and review the information below BEFORE contacting my office about a Small Claims/Magistrate Court Case! Frequently the amount of damages or monies claimed is outweighed by the cost of hiring an attorney. For example, since the maximum amount for which one can sue in Magistrate Court is $15,000, the cost of legal fees [I typically bill at an hourly rate of between $215-250, depending upon various factors] often negates the economy or simplicity of filing in Small Claims Court in the first place. HOWEVER, this is NOT to say that one should not consider hiring me or another attorney to pursue a matter in Magistrate Court, but that careful consideration should be given before doing so.
