Below are some excellent resources for general information on GA Magistrate Courts - also known as "Small Claims Court" - and the civil litigation process.

Please read and review the information below before contacting my office about pursuing a matter in Small Claims/Magistrate Court. Frequently the amount of damages or monies claimed is outweighed by the cost of hiring an attorney. For example, since - with very narrow exceptions - the maximum amount for which one can sue/obtain recovery in Magistrate Court is currently $15,000 the cost of legal fees. For instance, I typically bill at an hourly rate of between $230-275 (depending upon various factors), and thus my fees often negate the economy or financial benefit that might otherwise exist. However, this is NOT to say that one should not consider hiring me or another attorney to pursue such a matter, but merely that careful consideration should be given before doing so.
